Many industries have to perform development and quality control testing procedures that involve the enumeration of foreign particulate matter. In the Pharmaceutical industry such testing is particularly important for example for Injectable drugs (USP 788), Metered Dose Inhalers, Dry Powder Inhalers and Nasal Sprays.
In the automotive industry the presence of particulate contamination in fluids systems is known to be a major factor governing the life and reliability of that system (ISO 16232).
Hydraulic fluid systems power is transmitted through a liquid under pressure. Solid particulate may cause serious problems and needs to be controlled (ISO4406/ISO4407).

Traditionally analysis by light microscope based techniques has been time consuming and often involves manual detection and sizing of particles and is open to subjectivity. The Morphologi G3 allows the detection, enumeration and size classification of foreign particulate matter collected on particle filters, by automated light microscopy.
