Viscotek DSV - Dilute Solution Viscosity systems

The Viscotek DSV (Dilute Solution Viscometer) directly measures the relative viscosity of dilute polymer solutions using advanced pressure sensing technology. The instruments are fast, accurate and precise as well as self calibrating and self cleaning. Several automation and sample preparation options give flexibility for system configuration to meet application or budgetary requirements.

Whether you require a manual system for limited throughput requirements or the ultimate in automation, safety and repeatability, Malvern is the only manufacturer capable of supplying you with a comprehensive system solution.

Main features of the Viscotek DSV

  • Direct viscosity measurement
  • Unmatched application flexibility
  • Robust construction and reliability
  • Outstanding automation and software
  • Economical and safe solvent use

Dual capillary design with advanced pressure sensing technology measures the difference in solvent and sample solution viscosity directly and simultaneously. This eliminates temperature, calibration or operator differences. The system is both self calibrating and self cleaning, giving great convenience and security over traditional methods.

The Viscotek DSV can be used for all dilute solution polymer applications: From low molecular weight resins right up to the largest polysaccharides or polyolefins. With temperature control up to 160°C and wide dynamic measuring range even the toughest applications can be tackled with confidence.

Designed to be equally at home switching applications daily in a research laboratory or operating 24/7 in the rigours of a production plant QA/QC lab, the DSV system is built to cope. Tough construction and resistance to even the most aggressive solvents mean reliability with minimum user maintenance.

Several levels of automation for both sample preparation and unattended sample throughput give the DSV system ultimate flexibility. From a manual instrument right up to an automated high throughput system, there is a DSV configuration to meet most application and budgetary requirements.

The DSV systems offer economical, safety and environmental advantages over the traditional glass-tube systems. With a low consumption, enclosed solvent system the DSV minimises potential operator exposure, reduces solvent use and reduces solvent disposal costs. Furthermore, the method of operation eliminates the need for tube cleaning, further reducing solvent consumption.
